Skin Cycling with Ekseption

Skin cycling is a home care routine that is recommended by dermatologists and has been a well-known treatment protocol in dermatology for some time. It basically consists of a four night routine. Generally this would include night 1 as skin exfoliation, night 2 for retinoids to be applied, and nights 3 and 4 would become recovery nights where the focus is to hydrate and to repair the skin barrier. Once you finish the four night cycle you would then repeat the process.
Because skin cycling allows for “rest days” during the week, it makes it easier for your skin to repair itself after using specific products. One of the main benefits to this is that it can help to prevent skin irritation and inflammation, especially when using acids and retinoids.
Cycling through your routine is much easier and because products are applied correctly, and at the right time, optimal results can be achieved, making your homecare routine less complicated and more convenient, especially when using exfoliating acids before bedtime when application of more than one product can require additional time. Another great benefit to skin cycling is that it helps you to understand your skin better and to adjust your routine accordingly.
Skin cycling might not be suitable for everyone but generally it can improve results for most people. However if you have sensitive skin or are experiencing inflammation and irritation we would advise you to contact a skin specialist before applying acids and retinoids and starting skin cycling at home.
It is important to inform your skin specialist of any changes to your skin whilst you are using dermocosmetics, and we recommend that monthly communication, check-ups to discuss and review your routine should be undertaken. We are always here to assist and advise you.
